  • Strengthening Writing Through Student-Engaged Assessment

    Session Duration

    Full day (two breakout sessions)

     

    Session Description

    This interactive session prepares teachers to deliver CKLA instruction with fidelity to their students. Participants learn how to use the dual strand concept to teach reading and language arts, with a deep focus on the Skills Strand. Participants also plan and practice teaching Common Core State Standards/ CKLA-aligned Skills lessons through video observation, teach-backs, and feedback from facilitators and participants.

    Target Audience

    For teachers who have not implemented Skills (at all, or with fidelity)

    SY15-16 residents do not need to attend this session as they will receive this training on June 6th.

  • Coherent Assessment System: engage, ANet, and PARCC

    Session Duration

    Half day (one breakout session)

     

    Session Description

    This session provides teachers with a deeper understanding of how the engage Module Assessments & Performance Tasks align to and prepare students for the ANet Interims and for PARCC. Teachers will analyze how students experience the type of texts and standards on each of the assessments.

    Target Audience

    Grades 3-8, ELA

    For all ELA teachers.

    For teachers new to Expeditionary Learning.

    *Please note that for teachers new to EL, they must attend the Quarter 1 Module Study before attending this session.

  • Leveraging A4 Interim Data to Strategically Plan For BOY Instruction

    Session Duration

    Half day (one breakout session)

     

    Session Description

    This session will provide leaders and teachers with the opportunity to participate in the Teaching & Learning Cycle to analyze their incoming students A4 data. Additionally, participants will explore students' performance on standards and genres addressed throughout the previous year on A1-A4. Participants will collaboratively engage in data reflection and planning process to enhance BOY instruction based on students' needs and aligned to engageAUSL Q1 Module and Domains.

    Target Audience

    Grades 2-8, ELA.
